- Experience with newbuilding projects and vessel takeover is an advantage
- Good leadership and communication skills to supervise and support the engine department

We offer a Second Engineer position on a newbuilding crude oil tanker currently at a shipyard in China. The vessel is a 2026 build of 61 000 GRT with a MAN B&W 6G60ME-C10.5-HPSCR (Tier III) main engine rated at 68 000 HP. We are recruiting for a project newbuilding assignment handled by Crewplanet with crewing from Latvia and the shipowner based in the United Arab Emirates.
The contract is 4 months and the gross salary range is 11 500 - 12 200 USD per month. The expected sign-on window is in 10 days. Nationality requirements are not restrictive and vessel crewing lists EU nationalities.
Candidates must have at least 3 years as Second Engineer on crude oil tankers, a minimum of 2 years on oil or oil/product carriers, and 6 years (50+ months) of relevant tanker sea service. Strong engine-room management skills, experience with planned maintenance systems and machinery maintenance are required. Experience with newbuilding handovers is advantageous. Leadership and good communication to supervise the engine department are essential.
